One
interpretation: “Returning from hiding out, Camonte is told by his mother that
his all-too-beloved sister, Cesca (Ann Dvorak), is living with a man. As the
jealous Camonte stalks down the apartment hall, bent on vengeance, he whistles
his fateful tune. When the door opens, he spies Guino with Cesca and shoots him
before Cesca can tell him she and Guino had just been married” (Roulston 1998).
Another
Interpretation: In the 1932 film" Later,
when Tony’s sideman, Guino, is visited by the former’s sister, Guino has cut
out a row of paper dolls. The sister, Ceska, uses the dolls to come on to
Guino, which he resists to show allegiance to Tony. When she notes that her
brother will be away for a month, the scene ends to begin her and Guino’s
marriage. Ironically recalling the scaffolding, the row of dolls signifies
Guino’s choice to marry and build a family, an institution absent from the
self-serving criminals and cops of the film. The row of dolls are, in fact,
paper thin, since Tony, with incestuous leanings toward his sister, kills his
buddy after learning of their involvement (he tragically didn’t realizes they
were married)” (Sorrento 2012).
Francesca
calls the police because Tony kills Guino. But Ceska ends up helping Tony shoot
the police off “Scarface includes suggestions of incest in the bizarrely close
relationship of Tony Camonte and his sister Cesca. “You’re me and I'm you. It's
always been that way (Faculty of Catholic University (2015, February 14)”. In
the 1983 film after Tony's is done hiding out Tony is looking for Gina he stops
by his mom house to see if she is there and she is not. He finds Gina and Manny
at his house. Gina is in a robe and Manny walks down the steps, Tony shoots
Manny. Gina reveals she was going to tell him that they just got married.
Tony
shows how he is very jealous and overprotective when it comes to his sister.
Tony shows no remorse when he shoots the sidekick. He does not want any man
with his sister because he loves her too much. This shows how Tony and his
sister relationship appears to be incestuous.
